The Egyptian Empire
Mountain 1

The Egyptian Empire was the first mountain that is mentioned in Revelation 17:9-10, with it's spirit king that controlled it from the spirit realm. Egypt was the first heathen empire to hold the nation of Israel in bondage. Israel did not exist as a geographic nation yet but God had promised the land of Canaan to Abraham and promised to make a mighty nation from his seed.

The Egyptian Empire was very small compared to some of the others that would follow. The post-flood world was still young and most of the population of the world was still in and around the Tigris and Euphrates river basin and spanning out from there. Israel entered into Egypt at about 1876 B.C. with only 70 souls {Exodus 1:5} and remained there for 430 years until about 1446 B.C. When they departed, there were 603,550 men over the age of 20 {Numbers 1:45-46}. Assuming that there were nearly an equal number of women along with many children, the total number was likely over 2 million.

The Egyptian Empire lies within the yellow oval on a modern geopolitical map.
